Code of conduct

People like you make IWD Banbury a better place. We want you to be happy at our events.

All attendees, collaborators and curators at IWD Banbury events are required to agree with the following code of conduct. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

IWD Banbury curators and collaborators will enforce this code throughout the events.

The short version

IWD Banbury is committed to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.

We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Sexual or violent language and imagery is not appropriate for any event venue, including talks, workshops, parties, social media and other online media. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from any events without a refund at the discretion of the IWD Banbury curators.

The long version

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. It also includes advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour.

We expect participants to follow these rules at event and workshop venues and event-related social gatherings.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

Collaborators are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, collaborators should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material. Workshop and fair hosts (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the IWD Banbury curators may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the IWD Banbury team - who will be wearing purple sashes - immediately.

Reporting

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. The IWD Banbury team can be identified by their purple sashes. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone. You can make a report either personally or anonymously.

Make an anonymous report

You can make an anonymous report here. This form will not require you to submit your name or email address. We can't follow up an anonymous report with you directly, but we will fully investigate it and take whatever action is necessary to prevent a recurrence.

Make a report in person

You can make a personal report by:

• Visiting the Information Point on the ground floor of The Mill on Friday 6th March event and asking to speak with a IWD Banbury curator

• Calling or messaging this phone number: +44 (0) 7510 992 826. This phone number will be constantly monitored for the duration of IWD Banbury

• Emailing hello@iwdbanbury.com. This address will be monitored regularly before, during and after IWD Banbury

• Contacting an IWD Banbury team member or a member of The Mill staff, identified by purple sashes or t-shirts

When taking a personal report, our team will ensure you are safe and cannot be overheard. They may involve other members of the IWD Banbury team to ensure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we'll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we'll handle it as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won't be asked to confront anyone and we won't tell anyone who you are.

The IWD Banbury curators will be happy to help participants contact venue management or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the events. We value your attendance.
