Get involved with IWD Banbury

Since we started planning the first IWD Banbury back in the autumn of 2019 we’ve been really enthused by the messages we’ve regularly received from people looking to get involved.

As the event draws closer we’re no longer looking for speakers, panellists, workshop hosts and pop-ups for our 2020 events. But there are a number of ways we’d love you to get involved

Become a mentor

We are still asking local business and community members to connect with young people from three local education providers in short "speed-dating" style mentoring sessions.

Each speed-mentoring session will consist of a 15-minute introduction, 60 minutes of speed mentoring and a 15-minute wrap-up.

Students will speak to mentors for 3 minutes before moving onto the next mentor. During these dynamic interactions, we hope to change perceptions of careers open to women and spark inspirational moments for both mentors and mentees.

You can get involved as a mentor, for a single session (09:30 - 11:00, 11:15 - 12:45 or 13:00 - 14:00) or for the whole day, please fill in our short application form.

Nominate an unsung hero for our yoga session

IWD encourages us all to make a difference - to think globally and act locally. Our community includes many who selflessly dedicate their time for others. Our afternoon yoga session is reserved for those people that make time for others, but not always themselves.

We are asking you to nominate the unsung heroes of our area - the volunteers, carers and generous individuals that make our town a better place. They will have the chance to relax and restore, free of charge, during our afternoon session. You can get involved by nominating someone using our short nomination form.

Come along and spend money with our collaborators

IWD Banbury is being supported by lots of amazing women-led independent businesses. By coming along to The Mill on Friday 6th March you can get to know them, find out about what they make or do, and spend your money with them. Rather than getting the coffee to get you through Friday from your usual brand, or buying that birthday present from a big chain retailer, you can get involved by shopping with one of our superb small businesses

Tell your friends

IWD Banbury is a local event organised by a small team. We’re working hard to spread the word about our packed events schedule. You can get involved by telling your friends - online and in real life - about IWD Banbury. Every like, share and comment, conversation, mention or recommendation helps more people find us.

And finally… buy a ticket to one of our events

We’re a not-for-profit event. Whilst our curators and collaborators are supporting the event in kind wherever possible there are inevitable costs to cover, such as insurance and equipment hire.

Quite simply, if tickets don’t sell we won’t be able to run future events.

The most impactful way you can get involved is to buy a ticket to one of our events.

You can buy a ticket for our “Ada” day of talks & discussions in the theatre

You can buy a ticket for Find your voice: Presence, presentation and empowerment with Cherwell Theatre Company

You can buy a ticket for Beginners brush lettering with Illyboo Designs

You can buy a ticket for Help Me Make: Toolbox making workshop with This Girl Makes

You can buy a ticket for our morning yoga session with Jackie Balchin

By booking a ticket to even one of our events you will help Banbury continue to be part of the global International Women’s Day movement.
